Project No. 31: Creating Smart Cane For Blind People
1. Introduction: In today’s fast-paced world, mobility and independence are essential for individuals with visual impairments. To address the challenges faced by blind individuals in navigating their surroundings, we present a Smart Stick designed to provide obstacle detection and navigation assistance. By integrating infrared (IR) sensors, an ultrasonic sensor, a buzzer, a red LED, and a vibrator motor, our system aims to enhance the mobility and safety of blind individuals while also catering to the needs of those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The primary objective of our project is to develop a reliable and user-friendly Smart Stick that offers real-time obstacle detection and situational awareness. By utilizing an Arduino board and strategically placing two IR sensors at the front of the stick, we can detect objects within close proximity. An ultrasonic sensor positioned horizontally between the IR sensors allows for measuring distances to objects in the user’s path. The Smar
