Project No. 04: Creating a Door lock Security System With Fingerprint

1. Introduction:

In an increasingly digital and interconnected world, ensuring the security of our personal spaces has become more crucial than ever. Traditional lock and key mechanisms can be vulnerable to unauthorized access or misplaced keys. To address this challenge, modern security systems leverage advanced technologies to enhance protection and convenience. One such innovation is a door lock security system with fingerprint recognition.

The project aims to develop a robust and efficient door lock security system by combining the power of Arduino microcontrollers and the reliability of biometric fingerprint recognition. By utilizing Arduino’s versatility and ease of programming, we can create a customizable and cost-effective solution that provides a higher level of security and convenience for residential or commercial applications.

The primary objective of this project is to design and implement a door lock security system that utilizes fingerprint recognition for access control. The system will integrate an Arduino microcontroller, a fingerprint sensor module, and a servo motor for the locking mechanism. The Arduino will act as the brain of the system, processing fingerprint data, and controlling the locking/unlocking actions based on authentication results.

The fingerprint sensor module, in combination with the Arduino, will allow users to enroll their fingerprints into the system's database for authentication. When a user attempts to gain access, the system will compare the presented fingerprint with the enrolled ones. If a match is found, the Arduino will activate the servo motor to unlock the door, granting authorized entry. Otherwise, the door will remain locked, ensuring enhanced security.

2. Working:

Step1: Fingerprint Enrollment:
Use the fingerprint sensor module and Arduino to enable users to enroll their fingerprints into the system. The module captures the fingerprint patterns and stores them securely in its database. The Arduino facilitates the communication and data transfer between the sensor module and the database.

Step 2: Fingerprint Verification:
When a user attempts to gain access, they place their finger on the fingerprint sensor. The sensor captures the fingerprint and sends the data to the Arduino for processing. The Arduino compares the captured fingerprint with the enrolled fingerprints stored in its database.

Step 3: Authentication Process:
The Arduino analyzes the captured fingerprint data and performs a matching algorithm to determine if the presented fingerprint matches any enrolled fingerprints. If a match is found, the Arduino proceeds to grant access. Otherwise, it denies access and takes appropriate action.

Step 4: Controlling the Locking Mechanism:
If the presented fingerprint is authenticated, the Arduino sends a signal to the servo motor. The servo motor receives the signal and rotates to a specific angle, unlocking the door. The user can then physically open the door and gain access to the secured area.

Step 5: User Interface and Feedback:
The system can include a user interface, such as an LCD display or LED indicators, to provide feedback on the authentication status, system status, and any relevant messages.

3. What is Fingerprint sensor:

A fingerprint sensor is a biometric device that is used to capture and analyze an individual's fingerprint pattern for identification or authentication purposes. It is a type of sensor technology that measures the ridges, valleys, and minutiae points present in a person's fingerprint.

Fingerprint sensors are widely used for security and access control systems, as well as in mobile devices, laptops, and other electronic devices. The main principle behind a fingerprint sensor is to capture an image or a digital representation of the unique patterns present in an individual's fingerprint.

4. Things that you will get with models:

1. Detailed Model
2. Well soldered circuits
3. PPT
4. Metal latch
5. Battery

5. Project Price

You can buy this project at price 2500 Rs

You can also customize your project according to your requirement as below:

The price of this projects depend on the component used in the model, for example in the above model the component used is:

1. Arduino UNO
2. Fingerprint sensor
3. Battery for power supply
4. Door lock
5. Servo Motor
6. Connecting wire

There are some other optional component available that you can remove or add it to the model according to your need, so the price of the project will decrease or increase according to price of component and coding for example:

1. With Display:
You can also add display to this project to show the password entered by user as visual feedback to user, with this component the price of project is 2650 Rs.

2. With LED :
Instead of using display you can also you LED like while flinger scanned is current then red LED get ON and yellow led to show power supply to circuit is ON. After the user get verified the green led get ON and lock will get open, with this component the price of project is 2550 Rs.

5. With fingerprint sensor only:
If you want to use only fingerprint then with this component the price of project is  2350 Rs.

In summery, you can tell us what functionalities and components that you want to add or remove from the model, so the price will change accordingly. If you have any question related to this project then contact me:  click here
